2012: First SmartGoggles with on-board Android and hand tracking

The challenge

create a self-contained HMD that does not require an external computer. Furthermore, allow the user of this HMD to interact naturally with the application without requiring external game controllers.

The solution

The SmartGoggles concept was created. It included a unique 10-camera hand tracking solution that tracked the user’s hands over a very wide field of view. A powerful on-board processor running Android allowed for high-quality games. A rechargeable battery and a space-age design completed this concept product.

The result

The product was successful demonstrated at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show together with games that highlighted the experience. Several patent applications were created.
