2013: First compact dual-1080p HMD

The challenge

create a high-resolution HMD with a very compact form factor that could be used for military training. The need is to allow raising the rifle to the cheek without hitting the HMD. The users would like to be able to wear glasses with the HMD as well as maintain high image quality even when running with the HMD.

The solution

design high-quality, low-distortion optics around a pair of HD1080 micro-displays. The complex optics allow achieving a very compact form factor while preserving extremely high-quality image.

The result

the zSight 1920 provides 1920×1080 pixels per eye in a very compact, helmet-mounted form factor. The optics provide less than 2% geometrical distortion and generous eye relief and eye box.
