The OSVR software platform, designed by Sensics, provides significant benefits to all participants in the VR and AR ecosystem. For instance:

  • Consumers benefit from “innovation without boarders”, not limiting themselves to the timeline and priorities of any particular company.
  • Game and application developers can leverage OSVR to allow their application to work with multiple devices (including devices not on the market yet) and support multiple operating systems. No one likes to write an application that works only on one device. In addition, OSVR provides key high-performance VR capabilities such as direct mode, time warp, distortion correction, sensor fusion, predictive tracking and more.
  • Hardware vendors can connect to OSVR through the standardized interface and gain immediate access to optimized engine plugins (Unity, Unreal, SteamVR, CryEngine, WebVR, etc.) as well as pre-existing applications that are already written for OSVR.
  • HMD vendors can use OSVR to get direct rendering, time-warping, distortion correction and other features that enhance the user experience. Learn more about HMD integration
  • Integrators that provide public VR experiences or sophisticated training systems can use OSVR to integrate multiple types of devices, future-proof their experience and shorten time to market.
  • Developers of unique algorithms (gesture, eye tracking, augmented reality, face recognition, etc.) can find a market for their inventions without having to build an entire new ecosystem.

OSVR software is free and open source, licensed under the permissive Apache 2.0 license.

The Sensics Home Suite for OSVR improves the OSVR experience by adding a collection of graphical utilities such as Home, Notification Engine and more.
